I’ve actually had a private label affiliate program for several years, but it was only for a few selected peers… people I knew personally and trusted. I am now opening my program up to a wider group of affiliates.
If you’ve read my posts on various affiliate forums, I have strong opinions about what’s wrong with our industry. And I’m frustrated that we can’t agree on what constitutes a click, what constitutes a forced click, what’s a parasite. I’m frustrated that merchants don’t think they need to pay on the 20th of the month, and feel no obligation to respond to an email. C’mon! We’ve reached the point where Staples can tell us they’ll pay us ZERO for the summer, and they are still allowed to be a merchant!!! Aargh!
So I want this program to be fun… for everyone involved. To be profitable for everyone. I want affiliates to KNOW they are considered an EQUAL partner. That every penny that comes in is due solely to their efforts. I want you to know that we’re accessible 24/7 for any questions. We’ll help with custom landing pages, custom banners, custom coupons.
So I’ve hired an Affiliate Manager to deal with any and all affiliate issues. I’ve set the commission and cookies above the industry standard. So I hope our program isn’t the typical pain in the butt program we all deal with every day.
Good luck and welcome aboard,
Billy
MY PLEDGE TO AFFILIATES
1. To treat you with respect, courtesy and as an equal partner. To show that YOU are the reason the program exists.
2. To listen to you: comments, complaints, suggestions, compliments, special needs, whatever.
3. To have the best commissions, cookies and TOS we can make.
4. To not send numerous “We’ve changed our terms again/please log in and accept” emails.
5. To make the program as personal as possible. I’ve asked my Affiliate Manager to maintain TWO mailing lists. One for people that want to be left alone. And one for people who want suggestions, tips, etc.
6. To maintain banners in all sizes and styles. To insure we always have Seasonal banners available, also in all sizes.
7. To insure the graphics in the datafeed maintain the same size, as a pet peeve of mine is merchants whose product images are all different sizes.
8. To always be parasite free and ethical.
9. I will stay out of the program personally. I don’t even want to know who my affiliates are. My Affiliate Team is charged with handling ALL affiliate matters, while I just concentrate on processing orders.
10. To recognize affiliates that go above and beyond with above and beyond commission rates.
11. To make ourselves available to our affiliates – whatever it takes.
